I have been looking for a responsive Wordress theme and so far, i havent found any that I like. I have been using a Wordpress starter theme, and I like that because it is as blank as it can possibily be with out loosing all the necessary parts such as the loop etc.

 

I have experimented with combining a css framework like skeleton with the starter theme that i already use. I just add the files and reference them in the header as you usually would.

 

Is this an ok approach?

AFAIK The latest default wordpress theme is responsive. I'm sure it would be easier to style that theme, rather than stitch together some sort of FrankenStylesheet from the wordpress theme and skeleton framework.

Twenty twelve is already responsive and there are plenty of others out there. Just do a Google search. I think skeleton has a wordpress theme but you can always create your own if you'd rather.

Might be worth knocking up your own base responsive skeleton for use on other projects. That's pretty much what i've done.

Then you can work from scratch and know the theme inside out which will make further development far quicker.
