Suggest improvements for my design

Featured Replies

Hi :)

First, I am no designer and therefore even at my best attempts to try to create a professional and fresh looking website would not turn out the way i hope. So, i would really appreciate your help if you guys and girls could suggest me things that i should change on my current template. Its still incomplete though. I suggest not to pay attention to content right now, lets focus on general design for starters.

My goal is to make clean, fresh and colorful design to a page created for pregnant women and moms.

I'll attach my design by screenshot.

I understand you're going for fresh but that doesnt have to mean quite so bright and vibrant ;)

comic sans is best left to comics ;)

how about something like this?

It somehow looks better, thanks, but i dont know about grey background. I think it also needs some vector graphics :)

grey background? you're monitor must be getting old :) it's light brown

and a background should be just that: in the background - not so bright that it takes attention away from important content

well good luck :)

Thank you! :)

I was looking it at bright laptop screen and i didnt even notice the brown, it looked like grey.

How did you manage to tweak it like that anyway, it was screenshot and you tweaked it like it was a full css, lol.

What you mean? You dont like it?

I myself like it a lot when website has vector graphics... i guess its a matter of taste :)

I think you are confusing vector designed graphics, with bitmap graphics.

Vector graphics are just maths, whereas non vector graphics (bitmap graphics) are pixels. :p Its ok, we was all new once :D I think for a first attempt its ntb, but I agree with Dap - leave the comic sans to comic books (or comic book type sites at least)

I am total newbie on design... i still dont understand what you didnt like on that template :) Maybe you could explain it?

its not your design, its your terminology haha. I assume when you made it, you found some vector graphics, that you then imported into photoshop/gimp and saved for web?

Nevermind lol.
