First off, humbly I would like to apologize for my english. I'm not a native speaker and I've never had english lessons. I know that I need to improve it for myself as far as I can though. What I'd like to ask to you guys about it, is just for a bit of patience and also, I'd be much appreciated if you don't hesitate to correct my english when necessary.

 

I have a frustrating history with Web Design. I got this dream since I was a little boy and therefore I was responsible to develop my talents in this area in an intelligent, practical and theoretical manner. The web developing has been, generally, pretty attractive to me, and something that I dream on taking as career.

Nevertheless, I wasn't a focused boy for so long and the shortage of motivation and instruction have only diverted me from my way. I worship people who learn for themselves and become great professionals in this area. I confess that developing my potential as webdesigner all by mylsef is a thrown burden to my hands.

Nowadays I'm 18 years old and I'm a very simple and offset guy. Being a great webdesigner is one of my great challenges, but it hurts when I take notice of the time that I've wasted, specially when I know I could've developed great part of my abilities when I was younger.

As the title of this topic says, there's no motivation, but I got to keep on going. I need to study webdesign back since of its prime despite the things that are missing in my life.

I would like to express my sincere joy to become a member of this forum cause I've felt that it would be valuable to me. I like to make friends, exchange informations and discuss about objects which are interesting for me. Cheers.

and your English is not at all bad

Now coming to your point

You are just 18! and u think u have lost years?

Many guys start to design websites at 40!

And to gain your motivation back u need to just plunge into it and do things u love

google for some inspiring web designs and do some websites for some charities and build your portfolio

 

Having girlfriend is also a way to gain motivation it works for some

 

and last but not the least its never too late for anything and you have just landed in the right place to get some inspirations and best of luck

You're only 18, ou've got our whole life in front of you and plenty of time to learn. I never even thought aout web design until I was in my twenties.

As the other guys have said; you're ONLY 18. I'm nearly 30 and have only recently decided to make a step change to become a freelance designer, and even then you could say that isn't 'too late'. We all have times where we think we've squandered time/money/resources into something that could have been better placed elsewhere; retrospect is a bitch.

 

The best thing I could say is, I presume, is don't look back and regret things that you've done. Just take everything as a learning experience and as part of your journey to where you really want to get to.

 

(Also, your English is way better than some of the people I work with, and they're British!)

Dude. There are some days when I can't even comprehend how to start a project because the scope is so large. Just take it as it comes, design things all the time (work, work, work!), and make yourself known to people who need to know. Opportunities will arrise.
