Hi all. I've put a lot of websites together in the past but never come across this before...

I have a client who recently has had his website designed: www dot banbury face clinic dot com.

I'm trying to link to his internal pages but can't see how they've been put together??

 

So it you click on one of the images on the homepage, the navigation bar then appears... now, how do I find out the link to these pages?

 

For example, I'm trying to find the link to what I would normally set us as... www.hisdomain.com/latestnews.html

 

Can anyone help please??

All the links are powered by JavaScript.

For instance the Nav bar has the function call...

 

<li><a href="#" onClick="return loadcontact()" class="dropdown" style="width:75px; margin-left:3px">Contact Us </a></li>

 

which is calling this piece of javascript in 'scripts/BnanburyNavigation.js'

Which as you can see loads 'contacts.html'.

 

Now why they're doing it like that is a mystery to me...

I did manage to work that out but I'm baffled when it could be so simply done.

Say I wanted to link to the 'latest news' page, do you know what the URL link would then be??

There might be a trick i'm not familiar with but i don't think there is a way to link externally to a certain page, if you do you lose the header and footer etc.

 

Internally you'd just call the same function.

That's what I found ;o( I just got the internal info which, unfortunately is no good to me.

Soooooo annoying as I need to link to these pages and can't see why it's been created this way!! grrrr

They obviously wanted the on page look with the set domain but whoever knocked the site up in the first place didn't quite understand the limitations of the way they've done it.

More than likely it was an old unsupported free script on the internet somewhere that's way out of date.

 

Tell the client the issue and you should get some extra work out of it fingers crossed.

...the main issue being that most of their website is completely invisible to search engines.

 

Edit: Spitfire's pointed out that the Googlebot at least can follow AJAX links, but given that there are no indexable pages at the end of them, the site would be treated as a one-page site, so still far from ideal.
