June 7, 201214 yr Argh I hate email problems! One of my clients has told me that some of his emails aren't being received on a seemingly random basis, and his company has now lost a significant amount of money because of this problem. My contract states that I don't really get involved in hosting/email problems, but I'm trying to help him out to keep the peace. I'm just looking for some things to check to hopefully find the root of the problem. Here are the problems as far he has described, using Apple mail synched to webmail account with POP3: 1 - Roughly around 20 emails have not been received by various recipients 2 - He was able to send before and after to the same email address, suggesting that the problem is not at their end 3 - Emails appear in his sent box 4 - No bounce/fail message, just nothing 5 - Some messages had an attachment of a Word document, some didn't He is currently having a rant at the the hosting provider, but I'm thinking the anger might also start coming my way soon if the problem doesn't get solved soon. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this (I'm still open to the fact that messages might have gone into junk, or overlooked, or the email didn't send etc, but ofcourse he isn't) it would be great!
June 7, 201214 yr Author Sounds suspiciously like a problem on the host's end, who's he with? HK company http://www.readyspace.com.hk/ . Why do you think that?
June 7, 201214 yr Does the host offer a Spam Scanner? I have one with my host, but it seems to occasionally detect non-spam emails as spam and it just deletes them with no warning or trace! If there is one, I'd recommend temporarily disabling it to see if that's the problem, if there's no change or there is no Spam Scanner; I'd say contact the host and ask for help because if emails are appearing in the Sent folder as opposed to the Inbox; it sounds like the hosts SMTP is faulty!
June 7, 201214 yr HK company http://www.readyspace.com.hk/ . Why do you think that? I was once with a cheap host, some emails I sent used to get lost with no trace. Can't say I've had the same problem for incoming though.
June 7, 201214 yr If he's not getting any bounce back when sending and they appear in his sent box then it sounds to me like they are getting past the email servers. Is it just one client he is having the problem with or sending to a few?

June 12, 201214 yr Our web hosting includes a special tool that allows our users to trace all emails in and out of their Ecenica accounts. Maybe your host has a similar tool? Failing that suggest opening a support ticket and asking them to check their logs to see if it can shed any light. Cheers Rich
