Other, far better qualified than I, will undoubtedly be along to give design advice. As a copywriter/editor I've got a couple of pointers for your copy:

 

Hi I'm Elliott, a 17 year old, self taught freelance website designer / developer from Essex, England. I specialize in creating rich XHTML and CSS compliant websites along with unique designs that stand out from the crowd.

 

If it was me I'd leave out the self taught part (if you really insist then consider hyphenating it!)

With 'specialize' it's up to you - I hate the 'izationization' of this once beautiful language - but then I'm a fuddy-duddy!

'Essex, England' - to me doesn't run together well, consider 'Essex in the south of England' or something.

'unique designs that stand out from the crowd' - *groan*! If you want to stand out from the crowd think of a catchier, less cliché description more personal to you. Something like:

 

"I specialise in fusing passion with technology to create unique XHTML/CSS compliant websites."

"I inject real passion into every project to create unique and stunning XHTML/CSS compliant websites."

 

 

Check out recently completed projects to get a taste of what I love doing by clicking the images on the right.

 

This sentence is a bit unwieldy - it needs more direction. Consider:

 

"Click an image to the right for a taste of my designs"

 

Or, if you want:

"Click an image on the right to see recently completed projects for a taste of my designs"

And, for what my non-designer opinion's worth, I like the overall feel and simplicity of your site - not sure about accessibility, SEO, navigation issues... but the pros will be here soon!!!!

No problem Elliott. Don't be hard on yourself - the changes were only minor and overall the copy was good (I see plenty worse). Look forward to seeing more of your work.

clean and simple.. like it

excellent site, well designed and clean. simple - i'd say far from for a 17 year old you display an incredible design sense. you have an excellent eye for sizing and cropping of images by the way well done.

 

heed wizeleys advice as you wouldn't want to let such great design down with poor copy.

 

i'd also think about bit more padding on the right of the main block of copy, it's bit close to the pictures.

I really like it, although it is a bit hard to navigate at times.

 

Maybe add a portfolio page which links to each of your projects (I do like your slideshow on the homepage though)

 

I am 18 myself and think you have a good eye for design and wish you the best of luck for the future.

Only thing I don't like so much is having no control over the slideshow, if I miss a site I wanted to look at I have to wait for it to come round again- maybe some little thumbnails to the right? Also adding a bit more line spacing might make the text look neater.

 

Other than that, it's great

I think the site is great, it looks really nice.

Personally, I find the logo slightly hard to read, but it's not a serious issue at all.

I would recommend linking the logo to the homepage, as it took me a couple of seconds to find out how to get back to the main page. Also link the testimonials on the homepage to their respective pages in the portfolio.

Other than that, its brilliant.
