no expert but there are rumours of a) a google sandbox and B) sites can hop around a bit in my experience.

sure one of the SEO gurus will correct me.

What on earth is a Google Sandbox? It sounds good, I wanna play in it!

A google sandbox is apprently a place where sites disappear to whilst being approved i.e. they show up in google and then vanish!!!

Really see here

A *renowned* (said with a toiuch of irony but he does know his stuff and has drunk with the orignator of CSS) computer Sciences academic assures me it exists. Mind you I've had no experience of it yet...

toodle pip...more tea?

I have had this sandbox theory once took a week to go back to its normal number 2 ranking:)

Rankings fluctuate all the time - it's when you disappear altogether that you need to worry.

Spot on ^.

Think of the 75,800 "angelfish breeders" who are updating their site, adding new pages, deleting things, creating new sites, deleting old sites, etc. As a result, most websites live in a state of relative flux (going from #4 to #6 is not a big jump).

Yeah as has been said already its nothing to worry about. Google search results change all the time and as long as you are able to stay in the top ten for your desired search then you are doing something right, especially if it is a broad search term that turns up 1000's of results :)

Jem and Expat nailed it :)

There are a lot of conspiracy theories about google, the large majority of them are entirely fabricated by people who don't understand why their positions have changed - and make up a reason to reassure themselves.

A bit like religion: if at first you don't understand, write a book explaining everything, and give it a fancy name.

*backs slowly out of dangerous religious debate corner*

i would simplify the site a bit. you have decent content, keep you keyword density around 30%.

One thing i highly recommend if to loose all that script you have running on the site. Only run the script that is necessary.

loose the sound effects, not needed - longer load time.

add google analytics and a google sitemap.

this will with out question get you a hight ranking.

Nothing is ever that definite - you shouldn't make empty promises.

That's only normal. Your competitors are also doing their SEO. What you should do is to continue building backlinks to maintain or even better your rankings ;)

Ranking is where you appear in Google,

For example on the first page there are 10 links, the first one is Rank1, the second one is Rank2, etc
