November 23, 201114 yr Dam'n! Just failed my driving test. Was in the lane on a roundabout for straight AND right when going straight on, and the examiner said afterwards he expected me in the left hand lane for straight on... Was gutted, had a pretty good test up to then.

November 23, 201114 yr Author it happens... You'll learn for next time I'm sure Yep Just hoping for a cancellation now for early to Mid December. It was so annoying as well, because I had only got about 5 minors up to this point And this was on the way back to the test centre at the end of the test
November 23, 201114 yr I failed my first test for putting my handbrake on too early... give them any excuse and they'll have you. Edited November 23, 201114 yr by WBC
November 23, 201114 yr Was in the lane on a roundabout for straight AND right when going straight on, and the examiner said afterwards he expected me in the left hand lane for straight on... That sounds harsh.. at least you didn't run anybody over, what more do they want?!
November 24, 201114 yr I went through a red light on my first test. Got the maximum number of minors you can get on the second and scraped a pass
November 24, 201114 yr It sounds harsh but the examiner was right to fail you. If you're going straight ahead and you're in the right lane, you will have to cut across traffic in the left hand lane. The only time (as I was taught) you should be in the right lane for straight on is if it's after 12 o clock and there's a left turning before it. It's also different if the exit is a dual. I failed twice. First time I failed for accidentally going into reverse at a junction (lol) and the second time I failed because I was driving down a country lane and apparently I was going too fast, despite him admitting I was in full control of the vehicle and not actually speeding. In other words, I was failed then on the basis on an opinion. Believe me that's worse! If this was your first time don't beat yourself up over it. Nobody passes first time any more. I feel your pain re-booking though. You have to sit there refreshing the page and every three times you have to type in another security code. Good thing for me was there were alternative test centres - so you should consider going somewhere else if you can get an earlier date. If I was you though then based on my own experience I wouldn't hold my breath for December, January/February are more likely. Burgess Hill test centre down here has a 4 month waiting list! Oh, and the funny thing is, since I've been driving (September) I've learned probably 100x more about driving then I ever did in my instructors car. He taught me well, but being on your own in a different (and more than likely much older/clunkier) car is a different experience altogether. There's nobody to rescue you if it goes wrong! November 28, 201114 yr I did exactly the same as this, I was gutted. Had my car ready to go and everything, but I went for my second test, relaxed and did what I was told, past with flying colours. The old saying of better drivers past second time round is true
November 28, 201114 yr Where did you guys do your tests? The one I passed I did during rush hour in Worthing. The traffic was mental.
November 28, 201114 yr Where did you guys do your tests? The one I passed I did during rush hour in Worthing. The traffic was mental. I remember doing mine, only because it was on a Friday the 13th some time ago now... surprisingly however everyone before me (according to the instructor) had passed as my test was late in the day... and at a new test centre in a part of the town (swindon) full of roundabouts where I'd not been previously... Passed first time mind... though the instructor did the grim "well I'm going to have to tell you... pause.... you .... pause... passed" Had a friend who scrapped through with something like 14 of the maximum 15 minors .... Good luck for next time Tom Edited November 28, 201114 yr by CSN-UK
November 28, 201114 yr The fact is how you pass is no measure on how good a driver you are - just your ability to drive to a certain set style set out by the DVLA. Nobody actually drives like they did on their test.
