School contest design

Featured Replies

Hello guys!

I have recently designed a layout for a school contest but I'm not very sure about it.I'd appreciate any comments you'd make regarding the things you like and/or dislike at my layout. Thanks in advance!

My layout

A strong start, i think. A couple of things maybe. How about 'chalk' on the blackboard?? (Chalk Font!) The current font looks wrong. u have the right idea with the black board i just think it needs chalk on it!

To be picky... I think the gradient is the wrong way around. You very rarely see horizontal gradients like that in site designs. For one they are hard for a coder to.. well, code!

Like i say a solid start just needs more work on the content areas etc...

HTH.

Thanks a lot guys for your replies.I have made some changes at your advice and here it is.The font is really cool(thanks greyhat for it).As for the size, would it look cool in your opinion as it is,at 960x900?

New layout

Looking good! :D

To be picky again - I think lay the chalk text out as follows:

>>Concursul>>

>>>>Leris>>>>

.. in the middle of the board.

It just looks like it is squashed on to one line a bit and you could make better use of that space.

As for your other question, it depends really how far you need to take this technically. In the real world you need to accomodate ALL different screen sizes with any design...

I wouldn't use a ":" in the News header. Instead I'd use bolding or something else to make it stand out as a header, perhaps size, or a slightly colored background. Also, perhaps it's a good idea to move it down along with the text on the left.

It's okay. Change the body font to Arial or Verdana or something web safe.

Make it in html and css just to be pro.

Its not the 90s anymore, you can use any font on line.

As for the design I would like to see it worked more a chalk board with some little doodles, old eraser marks and so on. Basically a massive graphical design pice a bit of effort but done correctly would be amazing
