Good evening all,

I would appreciate some feedback on my first major site:

www.186sqn.org

It is not quite finished and not all of the pages are up yet but I would like to see what some of the professionals think of the design of it.

Cheers,

Chris

I didn't liked the fonts used for the site.....

the body content fonts are much bigger and the background color is also very dull.....

I think if you use Helvetica for the right panel Headings it will look much better..

You can try Arial or Tahoma or Trebucet for the navigation..

Try to change the font of the Header too...

On the whole this is a very tidy site, but I do have a couple of suggestions:

Is that comic sans you're using for your header? I think you should change it to anything else. Comic sans has a terrible reputation on the web, not to mention the fact that it's possibly the ugliest, most overused font in the universe ;)

Secondly I would say that it could use a little more visual interest in the form of imags.

Lastly, I spotted a spelling error - Upcoming has only 1 'm'.

The one think that I don't like is that the black text doesn't stand out on the background...and I was having trouble with it as there isn't much contrast.

That red box on the first page is literally hurting my eyes !

Id tone that down a little bit if I were you.

Other than that, and a few other minor problems, not a bad job.

Hi. I agree with subhajit and notbanksy, you should remove Comic Sans from your design.

Also, your colors are a little bit boring. Typical old websites' color scheme of blue and red. I think playing with colors would make a huge difference. You can find inspiration on websites like Kuler.adobe.com and colourlovers.com.

Overall, good job!

cfarrants can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he is using blue and red as it is colours from the RAF symbol. I do think that the colours could be better matched to the symbol, if that is the case.

Yeah i think Helvetica or Verdana would be more suitable for the navigation , and a much lighter colour , white even ! Then make your headings a pale blue so they dont clash ! Good job with the validation though.

blue and red color not match on this site. and you can add some picture on this website

Thank you all for your comments. It's my first major site so I'm still getting used to the whole 'design' thing (I'm more of a coder).

I'm very new to this so thank you for pointing that out. I will have a play around with some different fonts tonight.

I have been contemplating over the colour for the heading. I want it to stand a little but not too much  I think that the white works better for the titles but I was worried that it would blend into the background too much. (Thats why I changed the BG colour on the right headings).

I got the basic colour scheme from the adobe site and I used the blue because it is the standard colour of the RAF/ATC. I would agree with you that the red it a little overpowering and I will look at using a slightly darker shade.

Anyway, thank you again for the replies.

Chris
