August 19, 201114 yr Now, I'm not scared of "scaring off" clients with a price by setting a standard, however this project is interested yet i'm not sure what the price should be as they want a custom framework for it. It's a dating website which "must" include: search preferences, ability to make matches and email members with these matches, instant messaging between members, forums, rating system of members, whos online features, payment area (including payment gateway), newsletter and update - sending to members, They want this within a month and I act as freelance designer / developer (all in php)... I'm thinking £4200 but other acquaintances of mine are saying this is too generous and it should be at least £6000. I'm thinking I might be charging WAY too much as well as although there are a few points which could cause an increased amount of time spent on them most of it is generally straight forward. Input on how much you'd charge would be great.
August 19, 201114 yr Author Don't post it on too many forums or your client will find it Well, no of course. Its not a case of not being able, it's just I don't want to rip them off for something I can potentially add to my CV at my expense of giving them a good deal too. August 19, 201114 yr Happens to the best of us. I'm just completing one site which i should have charged way more for but i wanted the opportunity to work on it. I reckon you're about right with that price. It'd probably be a bit more in general but in this case it'd be good to charge that lower price and getting the job.
August 19, 201114 yr Create a base payment per hour, gage how much time it will take to create the project and then add a fudge time. So, payment per hour = £30 time estimated = 24 fudge time = 6 (time estimated + fudge time) * pph (24 + 6) * 30 = £900 charge half of the price to start, then get them to pay the rest at the end.
