  1. Hey, Thanks works a charm +1 to both of yous Just one thing though, When i go to www.website.co.uk/blog via a link it puts http://www.website.co.uk/blog/?page=blog&article= But if i type it direct into the address bar it says as just /blog Any ideas why that is? Gary
  2. Thats it haha, Now when i go to blog without the article variable set it makes the url go like http://www.website.co.uk/blog/?page=blog instead of just /blog/ I can do it so that will work, but then /blog/10 wont when i actually want to go to an individual article
  3. Thanks, that sorted that problem, only problem now is that it doesnt let me put just the url like www.example.co.uk, It puts www.example.co.uk/var/www/vhosts/ and so on Ive tried a few things but cant manage to get it working

  7. Hello, When I create a new product on woocommerce (plugin for wordpress), I need it to automatically go into a customers cart. Does anyone have a clue how to do this? Ive looked in all the admin files to try and see where the add product coding is but cannot find it Thanks, Gary
  8. Hello, I dont really use CMS much, anywayy I have installed woo commerce as a plugin to the wordpress site, Basically what i need to do is create a payment page where we can set the amount a customer has to pay or so they can input how much they have to send themselves (whichever easiest), they aren't paying for a product or anything they're basically just paying a bill as such Whats the best way to do this? I've thought of everything but nothing practicable, is there another plugin which does this Any help will be appreciated +1 Thanks, Gary
  9. This didnt work either (n) Its only when the £ is displayed in a text field it will put the A before it, if i submit £ then i just upload the page (where it uploads the inputted data) it will show the £ as usual its just the text field where the problem is I looked on PHP info without even thinking before and looked at the default charset and it is default_charset no value no value Does this NEED changing? lower down on php info under http headers info it tells me Content-Type text/html; charset=UTF-8 Thanks, Gary
  10. Basically just so it cleans up the end of the url so its not like ?page=suchandsuch so it always shows just www.example.co.uk Not sure if that explains it very well,
  11. It works no problem if i send to database as £ and display as £ on website therefore displaying the actual £ sign but its trying to get the text field to display as £ which is does put it puts the funny A before it Ive tried that too haha
  12. Hello, As you may have guessed by now my htaccess skills suck, This is probably the most basic htaccess stuff aswel lol I need to shorten url from www.example.co.uk/?page=$1 to www.example.co.uk Ive tried quite a few things, even things that said they work but no look, im on apache Cheers, Gary
  13. Not for display, to put in the database, so when £ is submitted it will send £ to be stored in the database rather than £, it was only something i tried..
  14. database collation is in utf8_general_ci, tried in utf8_unicode aswel the collation of the field holding the data is also set as utf8_general_ci (as default) Already tried
  15. Hello, I have an input field which fetches information from the database which a user can update, if i put the £ sign in the field though and click update it will show £, i have mysqli_real_escape_string() on all things sent to the db i have tried putting <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/> and header('Content-Type:text/html; charset=UTF-8'); but they dont do anything, any idea of why this is happening? i have tried using str_replace() to change £ to £ while in the database and reversing to display but it doesnt seem to want to work Thanks, +1 for any help
  16. 128MB is alot of chars, its probably like 130million characters or something stupid Either way this data is going to have to be sent via something like mysql therefore using up bandwidth or whatever, so storing it or not its going to use up bandwidth, The best way i can think of to make it efficient and not use up so much space or bandwidth is by the following; - Users sends message - Message is stored in database and also stored in that users php session as an array of some description - Other users chat checks the database for new entries every second or so, if theres a new entry it will get that entry only and store it in their session array and then displays on their chat to read and reply whatever - Instead of it loading all the messages every second, make it so you count entries stored in the array and then as your query SELECT * FROM chatmsgs WHERE id>$TheAmountOfEntriesStoredOnYourArray then simply repeat the last step - So that you keep your session storage down just when it gets over 400 messages or something then it slowly starts emptying the messages from the array 1 by 1, so every new entry means 1 entry is removed from the array for example so when there is the 456th message then message number 56 would be getting deleted from the array and database the same time the 456th message was being loaded - If its a public chat (and maybe even private chats) for safety/security reasons if someone reads a message they dont like for example swearing etc then they can click report and that message would be put in another table in the db under reported messages for moderators viewing to deal with that person accordingly Not sure if that makes sense but thats probably the best way to do it without using a ton of bandwidth
  17. theres nothing getting the posted values on the PHP file php file should be something like this <?php header("Refresh: 5;url=http://www.mydomain.com/"); ?> <?php $firstname = $_POST['firstname']; //this gets the posted values and puts them into a variable $name = $_POST['name']; $customer_mail = $_POST['customer_mail']; $subject = $_POST['subject']; $message="Name: $firstname $name<br /> Email: $customer_mail Membership: $subject"; $header="from: $firstname <$customer_mail>"; // Enter your email address $to ='willows1990@gmail.com'; $send_contact=mail($to,$subject,$message,$header); // Check, if message sent to your email // display message "We've recived your information" if($send_contact){ echo "We've recived your contact information, please <a href='index.php'>click here</a> to go back"; } else { echo "ERROR"; } ?> the inputs should be sanitised to prevent hacking and a captcha or something along those lines would be helpful to avoid spamming
  18. Hello Joe, Websites where there are so many personal details of the user is stored on YOUR website arent just as easy as creating the website, there are laws involved, if you fail to meet the laws in terms of prevention against exploitation of their private/personal details then you can find yourself in trouble, the main one being the data protection act 1998, even if this wasnt the case, you'd still want your website to be as secure as possible anyway when dealing with payments Your best learning how to code and go over tutorials and do everything yourself so no copying and pasting or you dont learn, for example the login, find a login tutorial and learn how everything works and why the inputs have filters on them (eg to prevent hacking/unauthorised access) And as an extra point of my small essay, you said you've implemented js forms for registration, its worth to mention just incase you're unaware that all the checks you do in JS must be done on php(or whatever serverside language your using) as all a hacker has to do is disable JS and then they can input whatever they like If you want any help with anything, repost or message me Gary
  19. Cheers, I looked it up in detail as i thought it was a full on thing the hosting company need to install for you but it seems pretty straight forward so im going to get it on our server tomorrow, Thanks
