July 28, 201115 yr Throughout my site I have linked to my homepage (index) like so: <a href="/">blah blah</a> rather than: <a href="index.html"></a> Have I done this correctly? Does it matter? The reason I changed it to this was in my analytics it was showing / as a different page to index.html when they are the same.

I personally put the full url in for internal links i.e http://www.blah.com/services/. Saves any confusion over duplicate pages being indexed etc
July 28, 201115 yr agree with roothost.. it should not be a problem.. u should remove all the other default directory filenames (home.html, default.html...) etc from your control panel..lest u upload some page with that name and all your pages link to it instead of index.html
July 28, 201115 yr Author Thanks guys I hoped that would be the answer and it saves me going back to rename everything!!
July 28, 201115 yr Personally I just link to the file name such as 'index.html' I don't see the point inserting the full URL when that's the default behaviour anyway. I will put the full URL if it's for description purposes such a copyright pages, terms of use pages etc as this is more semantic as it ads a extra level of ownership.
July 28, 201115 yr Author Yeah that's what I did originally Mike but I was getting conflicting results in my Google analytics dashboard. Now I know this doesn't really matter when it says index.html visits = 10 and / visits = 10 it still amounts to 20 but that sort of stuff bugs me
