July 1, 201115 yr Hi ive just came across this forum by accident really, but it looks quite active so thought id say hello! Bit about me. Im Alan, 34 'career changer' having spent the last 10 years or so as a registered nurse, time for the change and now or never. Got into the idea of computer related stuff a couple of years ago, via affiliate marketing and the 30 day challenge but i was useless at it and felt i needed a grounding in basics of html, css and all the rest. Wanted to get on a business it course but due to cutbacks etc i couldnt get on, but did get on a foundation degree/hnd in new media. Currently at the end of first year with one more to go. So far we have covered - or been introduced to - photoshop, flash, dreamweaver, illustrator, javascript and very soon actionscript. Also just done a 6 week night school course in intro PHP. Left my affiliate sites fall by one side (only really got a couple that actually work anyway!) and plan on taking them back up at the end of my course, with a bit of domain age to boot! Currently been doing lots of employment research, seeing if i will be employable in 12 months time with the skills picked up on the course. Starting to worry a bit really as if i dont get a job at the end, well lets just say my wife and children have been/are very patient letting me walk out of work to go back to school!!So i will be using this site for all sorts of guidance, from career to design to code! That is me in a nutshell. Pleased to meet you all and look forward to picking all your brains! And of course offering that i can to others!! Alan.
