June 27, 201115 yr I have tried talking to a local solicitor on this matter today but they were a bit clueless. Can any one point me in the direction of legal advice connected to reading personal emails of an ex employee that has now resulted in a invoice not being paid. I dont want to post any more details as I dont think its on to diss the company but willing to explain more on pm
June 27, 201115 yr If it's on a company server, it's a company resource and belongs to the company. You can read whatever you like. Personal emails should be sent from a personal account.
June 27, 201115 yr Yeah on that topic (not directed at the OP in particular) - in my last company I worked at, it never ceased to amaze me that I.T. told people that all the time, and yet still all these incriminating emails flying around. And people would always kick up a stink when their emails were read, they didn't seem to understand that they were company property.

June 27, 201115 yr Author Hi all. It wasnt work email it was hotmail and on a business phone that was handed back in at time of leaving with everything deleted. The account was reinstalled in some way with out permission and solely to eves drop on personal correspondence. I understand that I wont get legal advice so would like recommendations or pointing in the right direction as the solicitor I saw today didnt have a clue
June 27, 201115 yr id forget the email stuff but go after the unpaid invoice (of course no contract and your stuffed but depending on why its not been paid and so on) 1. Send recorded letter asking them to day within 14 working days 2. No payment threaten CCJ if no payment 7 working days of this letter (all sent recorded) 3. If nothing fill in a ccj online against the company will cost £30
