Another Cms Question...

Featured Replies

A friend of mine, musician, wants to make a website. Something with a gallery and ability to play his tunes. No coding or webdesign experience. Is there a free CMS out there that's easy to put together visually that'll do this?

I don't have the time at the moment to do this for him, but I figured I could help out with the research. I've been using my own custom CMS' so far, so I'm a bit like a fish on land on this topic. (me: "make websites without coding it? ... I never heard of such a thing...")

Hi

A great CMS to use is Joomla (www.joomla.org). I've been using this for a while and it is a great way to go for websites where the end user knows nothing about web design / html etc.

Joomla itself is free as it is Open Source, it comes with a couple of templates built in and there are plenty more free ones about.

You do need to find web hosting that can supply MySQL database. Personally I recommend www.yoserve.com. They have some cheap web hosting packages and some that install Joomla at the touch of a button - how's that for instant!

MySpace? Facebook? J/K I'm sure that wordpress would work for this but perhaps is a little overkill. Depends if he wants a blog as well or not.

WordPress with

NextGen gallery: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/

and

Inline MP3 player: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/inline...ayer/#post-2050

Is one idea anyhoo.
