What should I learn to use?

Featured Replies

Hi Designers,

I just registered in the forum. I wanted to ask the people who knows the most. I'm a freelance designer and I specialize in Photoshop. I do site elements like banners, headers, footers. I'm starting to work with mockups which I deliver as PSD to clients who have to translate to HTML and CSS on their own.

I'm looking for a way to make websites on my own but I really hate to code. I'm like an ape without the club when I try to learn HTML, CSS, javascript, etc. etc.

What should I learn? I'm thinking Dreamweaver but seems like a really though program to learn.

Which would be the simpliest path to move on into webdesigning?

Thanks!

Marcel

Why not team up with a web designer that's not very good at graphics? I'm afraid there's no way you can design a website (with any real degree of control that is) without at least some coding. Dreamweaver is as complex or simple as your work flow. Also, I argue that it many respects it's less complex to use than Photopshop.

i suck at graphics lol

Well in the long run you could learn HTML/CSS (it's really not about learning a certain programme).

A quicker alternative would be to work in partnership with a developer, that way you can both work where your strengths lie and have to sets of people looking for work, sharing office costs.

There is only 1 problem that leis with you and that´s that you hate to code as you stated in the starttopic.

The best way is perhaps buy some books and put your nose in it with a computer next to you to try out those explenation they give to you.

Atm I know a lot of html and css crossbrowser and there is this high basic of Javascript and JQuery which I know.

But atm I´m learning the OOP PHP programming language.

I fail at designing so I stopped with that cause I loved to code things up.

I have been learning for like 10 months off right now and the only thing I can get help from is this forum or use google no´one I know is a webdevolper.

Anyway don´t use dreamweaver but use some program for highlight syntax to see possible errors.

My god this forum is filled with awesome people! Thanks a lot guys you've really helped me out so far. I guess that my best choise it to team up with a web designer / coder. I started a thread in the "Freelancing, Business and Legal Discussion" forum to see if I can team up with someone.
