January 16, 201115 yr Hi All, If you could provide me with some advice and your oppinion for http://www.eastmidlandsit.co.uk/ that would be great. Also if you could provide some information as to how it would fair with SEO standards, as this is a local business SEO is going to be a strong part of the design, any tips would be fantastic. Thank you, EMIT.
January 16, 201115 yr Foir me the "Request Callback" is in the wrong place. Why would I be requesting a call back before I have even read what you are offering?
January 16, 201115 yr the code doesn't validate so you need to sort that out before plastering logos on the site to that it is valid code. Or just remove them, they never look good on a website. The CCNA/MS section doesn't look good on the right especially when you have so much white space on the left. The red line on the left of the 'so why us' section looks odd. Too many fonts and sizes going on.
January 16, 201115 yr Author Thank you both for your reply My bad with the validation, I forgot to re-validate after I added the last few pages, this needs to be corrected. The CCNA/MS white-space issue is due to adding another paragraph, again this needs to be addressed. I think you right with the red line, that is going, but im not sure what you mean about the "too many fonts", there is only one, our do you mean variations, italic, bold etc? Request Call back I believe has to be here, as I understand your point this appears to be the typical position for a call back section with sites such as this, plus I want the visitors to know right away that it is easy to contact us, once they know it is there they can always go back to it AFTER reading about us. Once again, thank you. EMIT.
January 16, 201115 yr Emit Sorry I wasn't aware that it was industry standard to put callback there. Although all the sites I have ever viewed it appears to be top right?
January 16, 201115 yr Author I wouldn't call it industry standard, just from local sites that I have reviewed so I chose to stick to the design. Once again thank you for your input, I hope to get the additional improvements finished soon. Take care, EMIT.
January 16, 201115 yr it's quite red but it looks pretty clean and good resize your logo properly (i.e. not just in html) i would prefer a highlighted effect on the buttons rather than a depressed effect (not too much of a pun intended ) the depressed button should be for when you click on it, not just hover
January 24, 201115 yr Needs more whitespace. Set your fonts to a baseline grid and make sure there's enough space around elements. Edited to add: here's a good example of what I mean. Forget what everybody is doing wrong, and do something right. You have a content column and a sidebar, put the sidebar to the right - it's supplementary to your main content, which is crammed in and overpowered in the middle. On an unrelated note, don't advise people to participate in link exchanges - the SEO benefits are minuscule and the risks are huge. Really need to bring that section up to date; bad advice is a killer. Edited January 24, 201115 yr by Renaissance-Design
