I've tried copying the theme just, but it loses all the pages I've already set up If anything has a link to an online resource that would be good Thanks, Emma
January 14, 201115 yr Login to the admin panel Tools > Export... It will back up your posts and pages into a sql file. Then on the new site just use the import option in the tools menu. To copy your theme, go into ftp and go to wp-content/themes and copy the folder of your theme. (remember to zip it up when on your pc). On the new server just install a new install of wordpress, import the pages and posts, then install the theme

January 14, 201115 yr OH what about installed and activated and working plugins???? Just move your whole WP directory over to the new server. The plugins are stored in Wordpress/wp-content/plugins, so as long as you copy the root wordpress folder across you should be fine. The plugin settings are stored in the database so will be included in that export that's been mentioned. You will likely need to re-configure Wordpress/wp-config.php. March 9, 201115 yr My site is very very slow Even if you do migrate your site to a faster new server, your site will still be very slow! The page has a total of 66 HTTP requests and a total weight of 2506.9K bytes with empty cache 66 HTTP request with 2mb (average 200K-300K) of page size is a disaster! ySlow gave you Grade D and your overall performance score is 67. You should look into image compression as well as the size of a small thumbnail is up to 40kb which is way too high for a website. Again, I have to tell you that apart from a slow ping reply (average 270ms), you need to read this and together "Let's make the web faster"
