February 29, 200818 yr So, for those unfamiliar: Its a laptop with 512 mb of ram and a 2-4gb solid state hard drive, that runs a lite version of Linux (though you can put XP on it) and it retails at the stupidly amazing price of £199 oh, and its the size of a dvd case! Has anyone else got one? I picked mine up a couple of weeks ago and I am LOVING it so far, Xandros is pleasantly easy to use, and actually not a massive transition from windows from a usability perspective! I take mine pretty much everywhere I go, its awsome for blogging on the move.

February 29, 200818 yr I believe the res is 800x480 Startup time is reputed to be between 10 and 60 seconds. Current prices are closer to £250 due to ultra-high demand.
February 29, 200818 yr Author Got mine for £199 in PC World, took me 2 weeks to find somewhere that werent out of stock though startup time is 10 seconds with xandros, closer to 60 seconds if you put on a different OS Penguin is right, 800x400 resolution, which to be honest, i thought would be a right pain, but I've yet to really struggle to do anything with it!

February 29, 200818 yr Author Took me a good day to get used to, but now i can easily type on it as fast as any other computer - except I enjoy it more on the Eee just cause you feel cooler.

March 4, 200818 yr grr, silly ****ers releasing it with XP - the machine isn't fast enough to run XP in a meaningful way, but all the suppliers will pick up the XP (which will cost probably £300) leaving the nicer (as in, optimised for that machine) Linux at the wayside...
March 4, 200818 yr Author New one is coming with a gig of ram standard, upgradeable to 2 gigs, so it should handle XP fine really! And to be honest Xandros is ok, but I would much prefer it to be released with Ubuntu

March 5, 200818 yr Don't be shy Expat we all know you're one of them! But back to the Eee (the other Eee, I mean ), I've never used Linux but this is the type of thing that would make me switch, just like people are flocking to Macs for new goodies like the Macbook Air. I so so badly want an Eee.

March 12, 200818 yr Actually that is a big focus. In my planning, in May and June we will release very stylish colors and I think more than five color options. I think the colors will really reflect the New York City and London city style. It’s a very flashy look and one will look more oriental and one more Western. There will be a very new color design introduced in June, but I can’t disclose more at this time. But you will be very surprised. You were correct Eris, it says so in the article posted earlier
March 12, 200818 yr I have recently bought a white Eee PC 701 for my daughter for her birthday. I paid a little bit over the odds, but it was worth it. Its a remarkable machine. For the spec it runs extremely well and the keyboard is fine after you get used to it. Apparently its a bit flakey with some SDHC cards, but I am yet to try those out. My daughter is gonna love it! Also, it runs absolutely fine with Windows XP if you use a stripped down version. As fast as anyone would ever need really, considering the type of machine it is.. ie. a "take-anywhere" laptop.
