WORDPRESS CMS

I have absolutely no idea how to use/implement a cms.I have spent wasted hours trying to figure wordpress, watched tutorials etc.So in my conclusion i think the whole idea is absurd. My coding and design skills plus 1 or 2 frameworks should be ok.Also along with the Adobe software.Forget CMSs... stupid ideas.

I understand your frustration - we have all experienced it in the early days of web design. But considering how popular and ubiquitous CMS are becoming, I don't think you can write them off as stupid.

Tell us where you're getting stuck and we may be able to help...

CMS help keep things together. I personally find it easier to have a software/script to help post thoughts on a website than creating a new html page for anything I want to upload or even modifying my HTML to update with new content. CMS help remove that frustration and makes life quite easy. I know I too was frustrated when I started of learning about CMS, but over time I have become quite fond of them.

I know exactly how you feel - I was in the same situation a few years ago, but decided that enough was enough and it was time to face up to the fear and get my head round a cms - so I decided to try Wordpress out on a personal site and created my own blog on http://www.milomade.co.uk and then that got me into deep water as one of my web clients saw the blog and asked if he could have one, so I said OK and had to build another blog and learn from the mistakes I made first time around. Then another job came in and I got more confident with it and then I started using it as a cms - I still feel totally lost sometimes with wordpress and can't figure stuff out - see my latest post about my own site redesign - so I ask on here for help when I get stuck, but I've managed to build several large sites and blogs using Wordpresss and love it now. So perservere with it as it's worth it in the end!

If you want a CMS that is a little less itimidating, then look at Concerete5. Not a lot of support, but if you are looking for just a basic page, it will suit you needs just fine.

Personally I prefer Expression Engine, but it has a high learning curve (especially if you think WP is hard).

I've heard som good reports about concrete5...

after trying all sorts of CMSs we eventually settled on wordpress.. stick with it. for 90% of just about anything it will do the trick and it is so easy for developer and the end user.

we spent a while with 'CMS Made Simple' but you just cant beat the wordpress developer community... if you can think of it.. there is a plugin for it.

What did it not do for you?

Hi, try this one.. Drupal,joomla..

we can get many features in both joomla and drupal. For an example Drupal is much more flexible when it comes to the development and setting up the theme and layout of the website. Joomla! is known to be surrounded by the paradigms set by itself, and offers less scope to be flexible.

So Both having different kind of features which depends on processing..whats your opinion?

thanks.
