Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if there is a blog style of system out there that will handle the below requirements? Preferably something that is open source, doesn't cost too much and is simple to use? I have a friend who's family would like something along the below lines to share stories with each other, old and new and sorted by the year the story took place rather than the date it was written?

Many people have just referred him to an ordinary blog but they don't usually possess the below features.

• Able to capture a written story that is potentially a few pages long

• Viewable and editable online by more than one person

• Sortable by year (not year it was written, but year the story took place)

• Sortable by author

• Has some basic formatting abilities (font type, font size, etc.)

• Easy to use

Nice to haves:

• Custom tags (perhaps for themes of stories or something like that)

• Visually appealing

• Key word searches

• Private (user name/password required)

• Can include photos

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,

Harry

I personally would say Wordpress can achieve this with some customisation and plugins! :)

WordPress can be used as a solution.

You can add custom fields for the date it was written.

You can set user roles, admin, editor, user/subscriber.

Adding posts is easy with different size font choices etc or you can use html.

All your nice to haves are part of WordPress plus there are thousands of themes to choose from.

MoveableType is worth a look

Seems pretty cool, bookmarked :) +1

Its good you shared. I think type is a better option as WordPress has some lacking plug-in and need customization.
