What do you find the best method for scaling down screen shots of web pages to display in your portfolio but still having a decent quality?

 

When ever I scale down my shots they look a little poor.

Do you mean via html/css or in an editor. I wouldn't recommend css, images get squashed. Html resizing is very ppor, especially for large scaling.

 

Best quality resize in photoshop and save as a jpg. If you want to resize on the fly then you could use the timthumb.php script

photoshop the best tools, or gimp both work just fine.

if auto sizing on site, than like asek says, timthumb

Sorry I wasn't too clear, I mean I use photoshop but the quality isn't great. Are there any techniques you use to help the quality?

I usually resize/zoom my browser first to grab the image.

Hi,

 

the key with Photoshop resizing for web use is to make sure you resize to the exact pixel dimensions and not just the right ratio. And always view the image at 100%. Then use the export to web devices function to optimise the image file size and control quality loss.
