Hi,

I have been given this website to improve upon by my boss....

I would love to hear from you guys about your opinions on it and what you think would improve it?

Please bear in mind that he wants to keep the flash (cu3er) and sidebar and the 4 'buttons' under the menu. The flash can be moved, altered and re-sized if needed.

www.cheaplimohire.co.uk

Thanks

Huw

lose cuber and replace with something like http://aviathemes.com/aviaslider/

Friendlier for those that want to view the web like a gynaecologist. Plus you can pause the slideshow and put some text on it to allow people to know the image is a link.

I'm not a fan of the logo or the blue.

The Poll and News section. Put to the right? Not sure if News is the right word for the content? Maybe 'ideas'?

The fonts could be more consistent in style and justification.

This page failed to show the cuber and errored.

Hi Zed,

Thanks for your replies.

1. I have to keep the cu3er, I was going to use a JQuery slider but was told to use cu3er...

2. Working on logo and maybe changing the blue.

3. Poll and News could be moved...and fonts looked at.

Thanks for the advice appreciate it.

1) Logo shouts out cheap - get something professional done

2) Cu3er slider isn't working on firefox - it also looks tacky, get rid of it and don't bother with a slider.

3) get rid of the poll, your trying to sell your services, not be a general info site

4) Rewrite the text to be visitor friendly, it's spammy and really dreadful on a visitor. I am guessing you wanted to get your keywords in but that is way to much e.g.

When you hire a limo through Limo Hire Herts anywhere in the UK including London, Surrey, Gatwick, Heathrow, Middlesex, Essex, Sussex, Brighton, Southampton, limo hire Watford, Hertfordshire, Luton, Reading, Berkshire, Cardiff, Swindon, Bristol, Newport, Manchester, Birmingham, Coventry, Northampton, Ayr, Glasgow or in fact anywhere in the UK, you will also receive a complimentary bubbly with every booking (over 18's only). If the limo is for children then complimentary soft drinks will be provided. We have separate package of each services including wedding, airport transfers, school proms etc. Please call us for more details...

6) Get rid of the "limo news" box as it's not new, it's links to other pages.

Honestly I would start again, it has some good points but also a lot of negative points. I would stop trying to spam for search engines and be more visitor friendly.

Hi,

ok..My boss wants me to keep:

1. Cu3er (works on latest FF for me?)

2. The text..

3. The poll and news...

He wants me to change logo and 'play around with it!'

Thanks for the tips.

Does your boss want work from the site? or is it just a spam site to get to page 1 of google? The site is dreadful for visitors and would put me right off IMO. The snippet i posted above shows, the text is spam and isn't legible.

Yes he gets a LOT of work thru this site actually....

I can agree with your points personally... but hey..! :p

I think I'd be asking him the questions;

"why do you want to change it"

"what do you not like about the current site"

"what is the short/mid term business plan"

perhaps he is looking to target a wider area, in whcih case keywords may need to be changed/considered. It might even be worth setting up another site/domain if the current one is performing well.

If I'm honest mate, I have asked him :

"why do you want to change it"

"what do you not like about the current site"

But all I get is 'Play around with it' and 'it looks s**t'...so thats why I was asking for advice on here!

TBH..Ive played around with it 3 times now...!

Grrr.....

For a start, make your layout line up! That will help with making it look more tidy. Also to make it look less cramped, increase the white space padding between elements. Then get some better photos, if that isn't possible, use photos that aren't stretched! Be more consistent with your use of fonts. Make sure you have defined line-height and font-sizes for each element. I like those 4 boxes underneath the nav (go easy on the grad). Have fun!

instead of cuber use this maybe:

http://cdn.active.tutsplus.com/freebies/003_pieceMaker/piecemaker/index.html

pretty much the same only uses jquery.

also, i'd alignt the banenr witht eh rest of the site and mabe put a border on the slides. its lacking any impact. didnt geta chance to look at anything else! sorry

As stated above: My boss has paid for and WANTS me to use the cu3er! I suggested JQuery and was denied! Yes I know it's better for SEO and is nearly 21x more lightweight! But... There you go!

:p

The boss knows best huh.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Im gonna totally redesign this site,,,, again...
