August 25, 201016 yr Hi everyone, I require your opinions on hosting my site. I have just bought my domain name from godaddy.com but I am now over overawed by th vast amount of hosting websites and I dont really want to be paying for something that I am not using. So... The website is my portfolio, simply for me to showcase my work that I have done whilst at university and clients. I am working to a very tight budget and therefore looking for value for money. Any advice would be great, Cheers guys!!

Our starting plan is £26.99 a year with a free domain registration/transfer, this package offers you 200MB of disk space and 2GB of bandwidth. However, if you don't feel you'll need all this (or you require more), feel free to give me a specification and I can work you out a tailored plan which is designed to work around you. A lot of our 'web design clients' are hosting a portfolio and face no problems. Good luck!
August 25, 201016 yr You are likely to get quite a few advertising posts. Generally for a portfolio site which will get minimal traffic, any web host should be sufficient. You won't need dedicated or VPS hosting unless you plan on hosting your clients sites. So look for a shared host. Another important aspect is where your host has their servers. It is thought that if you want to appear higher in google for uk searches, it is best to have your website on a uk based server. Speed will also increase for UK visitors. Some hosts don't mention it so talk to them first. If you think that uptime is vital then also phone them up, check to see that you can get through to someone in case your site goes down.
