July 30, 201016 yr Anyone else on here who used to be absoutely addicted to Pokemon? I just bought myself a DS and Pokemon Soul Silver, after not playing a Pokemon game for about six / seven years, and it's amazing! So many memories come flooding back when I play it... it's kind of sad; but hey, it's an amazing time killer when we're dead at work. Please tell me I'm not alone in this .
July 30, 201016 yr I used to love Pokemon, I mean I still fish out the game and play it sometimes when I'm really bored. Even bought a Gameboy Pocket off ebay for £3 just to do so
July 31, 201016 yr Yeah man, I remember having Pokemon blue and red (at least I think thats what first pair were called). Those games were massively addictive, lol. I also remember getting Pokemon yellow, which came with the addition of Pikachu following you around the world map - awesome! Kyle
July 31, 201016 yr yessssss!!!! still have the cards and everything i remember having pokemon blue, red and yellow - i only bought yellow for the pikachu following me so so so sad lol
July 31, 201016 yr Author Pokemon Yellow was such a gimmick, but everyone loved it! I know I did. The latest versions on the DS almost don't seem like the old Pokemon we all knew and loved; all these WiFi features and no Missingno glitch. Still a great little piece of reminiscence though .
July 31, 201016 yr hm well i use to watch it every morning before school then got some of the games on gameboy, twas quite addictive
July 31, 201016 yr Those games are the digital equivalent of crack! I was free for years but for some reason I picked up my copy of Pearl again... now I'm playing it at midnight, loosing my weekends to training... I'm only up to the third gym The one thing I will say about Pokemon that I truely hate is the way they make sequels. Each new game (if it's not a re-hash of a previous version) has exactly the same story and the same unskippable in-game tutorials. Every single new game misses the only thing we've always wanted -- the ability to get you old squad off the original games and onto the new ones!
July 31, 201016 yr Absolutely, I haven't yet played Soul Silver but I might purchase it, Silver was always my favourite, but Red I remember the most. I actually still play Pokemon on my PSP (Emulator), I've never stopped! I agree about the Diamond/Pearl games though, I played Diamond & Platinum, the new Pokemon are utter crap and unimaginative.
July 31, 201016 yr Jeez, last time I stuck around here, I was one of the young ones. Pokemon? Really?!
July 31, 201016 yr Pokeman on the brain Nature Neuroscience In 1997, flashing lights in an episode of the Pokemon cartoon triggered seizures in 685 Japanese children, drawing public attention to photosensitive epilepsy, a common disorder with a prevalence of 0.5-0.8% between ages 4 and 14. The origin of the condition is unclear (although inheritance plays some role), and the underlying brain dysfunction has been poorly understood. Now Vittorio Porciatti and colleagues (University of Pisa) suggest that the problem arises from a defect in the brain's ability to control its responses to visual stimulation. http://www.nature.com/neuro/press_release/nn0300.html
August 1, 201016 yr Author Absolutely, I haven't yet played Soul Silver but I might purchase it, Silver was always my favourite, but Red I remember the most. Hell yea, the new Pokemon are really lame with stupid names and they just look plain silly... if you consider the originals normal, that is.
August 5, 201016 yr lol i bought the ds just to buy soul silver because i used to love playing gold back when i was younger. i figured since i played gold so much i shuld buy soulsilver to have skarmory and whatnot cuz i never caught em lol i love the game the only problem is when i fought the elite four a second time they pulled out some pokemon i've never seen or heard about before and i pretty much didn't know what moves to do haha figured it out though using psypokes
August 5, 201016 yr Author I've just gone through the whole game pretty much using two Pokemon and a couple of HM slaves. Has been a pretty smooth ride so far; the only problem is when I come across a battle where I don't have a useful Pokemon that can do much damage due to type-resistance etc.
August 5, 201016 yr yea man i think i use a krabby as an HM slave. he pretty much can learn more than 3/4 of the hm's i think. just wait till you play the elite four for a second time in the game.. you'll be like "WTF who are you?!?" there's some ghost thing that has no weaknesses and a crapload of resistances haha
August 6, 201016 yr Agh you guys! You've persuaded me to go buy Soul Silver now, got me all intrigued again! xD
August 6, 201016 yr haha its pretty interesting yet nostalgic at the same time. If you refused to play the newer generations because you thought 350+ pokemon was enough(like me) then its interesting seeing the new features the newer generation game have. Nostalgic because it takes you back into the world that you played in when you were younger.
August 8, 201016 yr Author Agh you guys! You've persuaded me to go buy Soul Silver now, got me all intrigued again! xD Haha! Nice . Have you got a Friend Code or whatever it is yet? If you give it to me we could battle or trade... because we're cool .
