June 25, 201016 yr Like many people, i have come to realise what a dire company they are. I recently got charged £20 for my account been unpaid for 7 days (i get paid monthly and as such had to wait until the end of the month to pay them). I have asked them to refund the "admin debt recovery" (lol) fee as a good will gesture, however they have refused, so i would like to remove me from their systems. Surely they cant deny me this? Any help on how i can tackle them? Thanks
June 25, 201016 yr Author im willing to cut my losses, however fasthosts are saying that i cant cancel my account as its a 12 month contract (due to expire in april 11) however i am even willing to pay the remaining months to get it cancelled, but even that is proving difficult.

Do you also have domain registered with them?
June 26, 201016 yr Author my domain was registered with their sister company - uk reg. In all truth i have not spoke to them about paying up and getting out, because i dont have a land line and refuse to call them on my mobile. But the thing is i dont want anything auto renewing with them, as that then ties me into the contract for a further 12 months (hosting) and 2 years (domain).
June 26, 201016 yr Hi James, First move your domain to say Heart so at least ya got ya domain safe somewhere else (Heart are cheaper on domain names anyway). It's just a matter of changing the IPS tag (if its a .co.uk) in the FH CP and it won't cost you anything. Then just set up the nameservers back to FH. So long as the domain is not due for renewal, get it shifted. If it helps, here is their landline number which will save you a bit on calling via ya mobile: 01452 541499. Ultimately, it will be cheaper to stay with them for now and swallow £20 than move and pay two lots of hosting. I know it's annoying but a bit moe logical. Fasthosts are OK as far as the hosting is concerned. But the billing side is incredibly hardfaced and expensive (control panels, spam filtering, £25 per year for .net - money for old rope!!). I was charged the same thing a couple of months ago and did get it returned. But, I've been a reseller with them for 11 years or so and incredibly, on this occasion, I got to speak to a manager. A month before your hosting is due for renewal send them an email confirming you want to cancel and request an acknowledgement of this. Make sure you cancel your recurring charge in your CP too. Regs, Numb
