There is a secret page on 'Art of SEO'. To use it all you need to do is open the web page you want to increase in the SERPS op the book at the special page and press it against the monitor. This will pass the book's link juice on to the web page.

I've been using FancyBox for a while as it will handle IFrame and HTML, not just pictures. But when I ran JSLint, I found it didn't pass the test. Plus it quite a big beast at 27Kb.
 
So I've had a look round and found ColorBox which seems to do everything FancyBox can do without a large footprint - 9Kb and uses sprites rather than individual images (saving on HTTP requests).
 
It's very easy to add to your web pages and is totally customisable via CSS.
 
I'd thought I'd share the wealth so to speak to anyone who's not come across it.

Here are some things Ive done in the past:
 


 
Give talks at local enterprise angencies (pretty much what started me off)
Do what your doing now. Are you following up with a phonecall? I would say that sending visuals for the company may just be giving them a free template to work from for 'someone they know' who does web design - so be careful on that one! If I need the work I will target the business and try to speak to the manager. Telling them their website is either sh**te or naff face to face sometimes works!
Speak to local printers and offer 5% on any work they bring your way.
Do not waste your time or money on Yell or Thomsons etc. You could get more referals from Hotfrog or FreeIndex which are both free.
Go to networking meetings run by local Chambers of Commerce or enterprise agencies (but BNI is like the Masons and I didn't like the vibe or the costs)
When ya a customer of a small business always ask if they have a website and give em a buisness card etc
Do a freebie for a local charity or community project. It gets ya portfolio going and will get ya name around (and possilby even in the local paper.
Finally and most importantly - word of mouth. But that unfortunately comes with time.

 
I found ya website but it does need some SEO work. Ya not promoting your location at all (I had to look up the dialing code up on Google). If someone searchs for 'web design coventry' then you will not be there - anywhere!
 
Anyway I hope this helps. The first job is always the hardest to find. The most imporatant word to remember is perseverance!

Can i make a little suggestion. The link to the NPA that's on every page, add rel="nofollow" to the a tag. Im sure they have enough link juice going to them so keep yours to yaself!! The NPA can get stuffed - pun intended!!!

It's not good practice to just put this is a style on the page. Allways place any ccs code in a stylesheet wherever possible.

the top is the top!!!
 
If ya want to target something other than the top then obviously put in a anchor for say the beginning of the content.
