Google analytics

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I recently uploaded 2 of my sites into google analytics. There's so much data in the site, I just can't understand whats going on.

What are bounce rates, page views, page visits etc..?

Anyone know where I can find some video tuts which could easily explain this?

I know I sound a bit wet behind the ears, but I am an amateur & I've only created 2 sites and I could do with some advice.

Thanks everyone in advance for taking the time to read this, and for replying!

Riggers....

Bounce rate is the rate at which users exit your site. So for a particular page, if bounce rate is 10%, that means 10% of your visitors left your site after viewing the page, while 90% viewed other pages on your site.

Page views are total number of pages viewed.

Here are some links that might help:

Thanks buddy. I've checked out those links - very useful!

It is a bit overwhelming at first, but the more you look at it the easier it gets!

You should check out Webmaster Tools too as that gives some different info which is also helpful.

The Google info is probably the best place to start, just stick with it, it will start to make sense after a while.

I find all the Google stuff extremely intuitive to navigate but as a novice don't feel pressured into using all the data. After years at this there is still plenty of stuff tucked away in the Analytics that we hardly ever use and some stuff we never use.
