I've had my portfolio site up for a while and received a few clients. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to improve my site/attract more visitors. I'm thinking of purchasing a domain name, well, I've wanted to for a while, I've just never gotten around to it.

It's good flash but the design could be smarter. For example curved boxes instead of squared.

I have a large screen, and I have major problems with your site at that size.

Is this the way u wanted this ?

Like cibgraphics said this page is 'in your face' on a big screen (I'm using 1900x1200).

 

I have a 10 Mbit connection but I have to wait for the content to load only to find out that it's broken like on the pic Tamizhan posted. Finally, why do you use flash for an accordion menu when you can easily do it with javascript libraries. Check out this tutorial on nettuts.

 

Oh yeah, the colour scheme doesnt support your images well. I think it is a good practice to use a colour for the image background that is unobrtusive and not very vivid. Like a faint grey, black or some darker colours.

Thanks for your feedback, I'm probably going to redesign my site in a month or two with that in mind. I definitely want to make a site which doesn't require the user to have Flash. I'm probably going to keep the color scheme for some long buttons but have an unobtrusive background colour.

The site doesn't look very professional at all, certainly not the type of site that you should really be expecting to attract paying clients from. It's far too 'clunky'. Personally, I would go for a re-design and buy a proper domain name. Maybe kodiewilliams.com or something like that. It will help give your site a bit more identity and is easier for potential clients to remember in future when they're referring your services.

That is in fact, exactly what I intend to do! I tried to buy kodie.co.uk a few days ago when it was expiring but some magazine company decided to renew it and do nothing with it forever.

 

What would be more helpful now is criticism on my latest site, www.visionguardmonitoring.com . I've actually learnt a lot about design, development and javascript from this one site. For one thing, I'm never using frames again.
