December 22, 200916 yr I said I would do someone a website, and now I have realised I dont have the time. He was only going to pay me £100 anyway as its just a hobby for me that I fit around school. It was just a basic site with a Paypal cart and a few static HTML pages. I've emailed saying I cant do it anymore but he have everything I have done for free. Can he insist I complete the site? Dont be too harsh on me! Im new to all this!
December 22, 200916 yr Well there's no way he can force you without a contract in place, which I'm guessing there isn't. Though he will more than likely feel let down and you'd be likely not to get recommendations.
December 23, 200916 yr I second Smoothonline's suggestion. If you just back out you won't be in his good books, but if you pass him on to someone else willing to do it for the same price he should be happy.
January 1, 201016 yr Mmmmmmm - yes, although I like the humour, I am not sure upping the price by 2,000% is going to endear you anymore to him than refusing to do the job. It would be much better karma to try and find someone else to help him out. Best of luck.
January 1, 201016 yr I would suggest passing it off to someone else, you don't really want to start creating bad blood with potential future clients.
January 15, 201016 yr Emails can count as contracts. But I think it would be hard for him to insist that you complete the work.
