November 28, 200916 yr Any of you guys have trouble sleeping when working at computer for most part of the day? My pattern has been becoming worse and worse since dedicating literally my life to this gig in order to get decent. It's becoming more often than not my days are 24 - 28 hours in awake time and 12 hours sleep in recovery. It's almost like a complete time shift just to get all the things I need doing... done. My work is getting better yes but everything else is suffering. Like today I should be at footie today watching the greatest team in Scotland / The World but because of this nonsense it's not happening. It's a bizarre feeling, like if you go out clubbing at the end of the night you are beaten but if you needed to you could stay up all the way through and party with your buds or even go to work. After finally crawling to bed after said brutal shift I still can't sleep but definitely could not face a dance floor or any more work. This doesn't feel like that at all, it's like a complete burn out feeling. So question is, what should one do to rectify this situation? All suggestions welcome.
November 28, 200916 yr Relax, socialise a little more and take the whole webdesign thing easier, if your restless your not taking in as much information. So all this extra work your putting in does'nt have the full effect it should be having.
November 28, 200916 yr Try some yogurt, or a cup of warm milk, more here: http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/slideshow-sleep-foods Good luck!
December 1, 200916 yr Well Mike and I both work together so there is absolutely no time discipline in our house!! But we do sleep well - but don't think I can really share any of our methods with you ....
December 2, 200916 yr I find it harder to get up in the mornings, i used to be an early bird but since getting into the web design industry i have to say im very hard pushed to get up in the mornings. I get up at 6am get to work for 8:30 work till 5 then have my hours drive home again. After that all i want to do is see my girl friend, then sleep lol.
December 3, 200916 yr I admit that I never was one to like waking up in the first place, but it seems that the more I base my life around computers the more I am unable to sleep. I mean come on, its 2:54AM now and I'm still up! People I talk to reckon its the fact that the computers are keeping my brain active so I cant sleep which means I spend more time on the PC which starts a vicious circle. So, I suggest what Im going to do from now on, cut the computer out a bit more and chill out more That webmd link up above was also a good read, so have a look at that aswell!
December 3, 200916 yr I feel the same way. But once i finally get off to sleep i never can get up on a morning since getting into this are of expertise. I have to set 2 alarms to get me up, and place them in various locations around the room so i have to get outta bed, only way that works for me
