Wordpress Post Layout?

Featured Replies

I'm currently making my first blog website, I'm using WordPress. Is there a way to display posts like this site is doing in that short hand clean format?

Anyone know of a plugin or advice on how to do that?

You can use a PHP function...

<?php
substr(the_content(''), 500);
?>

Horrible method but you can get it to show full words if you work in conjuntion with other PHP functions.

500, being the amount of character to display.

I got to grips with using excerpt but I would like to know if its possible to display posts like the "Latest Gaming News" section on this site. What do I need to know to achieve that?
