SEO Friendly Open Source CMS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I would like to know which is the best open source customization or SEO friendly open source CMS ?

I know there is lots of open source CMS available as Joomla, Wordpress, drupal, whmcs, oscommerce, etc...

Which amongst these can make our SEO efforts worthwhile ?

Plz give your valuable advice...

I don't think I could pick out one which is more SEO friendly than the rest, or not sufficiently so that it really matters. Generally they are all as SEF as you make them.

It's standard now to support SEF URL's of some sort. Joomla still spits out some tables by default which is annoying but you can use something like the bees template overrides to avoid that.

Wordpress tends to make your blog title the H1 rather than the Description (on the home page) or the page title on other pages which isn't greate because H1 should be descriptive (and different) on every page. That said it's easily changed in template files.

Modx is known for being SEO friendly but that's mainly because it's used by developers who intentionally set things up in a fairly SEF way and modx gives you much more fine grained control over things than most CMS's (it's more of a framework with CMS attached).

I reckon in terms of SEO, the choice of CMS is pretty far down the list as long as you go with something fairly modern.

Thanx a lot for your reply...

Well, you saying that to design/configure template as per SEO perspective is matters than which CMS we have selected, right?

Pretty much saying that I think most modern CMS's have the capability to be pretty SEF, it's all about how you set them up and most importantly the content!
