I'm aware that I can have my own independent blog through Wordpress or Blogger, but can anyone give me some pointers as to how I should go about adding a blog as a page within my actual website?

Have another look at Wordpress.org (not wordpress.com which is the blogs) http://wordpress.org/

 

I don't use Wordpress but people say that it can be integrated into a webpage (or at least styled like your other webpages).

 

Or use a simpler comment program like http://www.cbox.ws/

it's dead easy, if your host uses CPanel there will be a software installer, called Fantastico (or something), if you click on that it will give you a list of a whole bunch of programs you can install, including Wordpress, and it will create a folder for you as well e.g. www.yoursite.com/blog

Hmmmmmm i'd say if you know php theirs nothing like making ur own

as said, go to wordpress.org and download the software, unzip on your site, then install it by going to

www.mysite.com/wordpress and you will get asked to fill in your database options

 

Wordpress is easy to integrate into a current site, so you can make it look like its supposed to be there. Either google for wordpress tutorials or someone (like me) would create your theme for you and get it running

It depends what type of blog you have in mind...one that you want to update frequently, or perhaps once a month?

 

If you want a content management system that can be easily intergrated into your website then have a look at http://cutephp.com. Very simple to install and there's no need to run it from a database, just pure PHP.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I managed to get Wordpress installed on my host. Now all I have to do is figure out how to style my blog so it matches the rest of my site.
