Please review my two websites

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have just signed up to this forum :)

Please could you review both my websites (links given below) and tell me what you think? it has taken me over a year to get both sites looking the way they do now, considering i did not know anything about XHTML, CSS, Photoshop back then. recently i have been trying to SEO both sites, which even though time consuming very interesting :)

http://www.ukfishersonline.com

http://www.ukfishersonlineshop.co.uk

nice layout :)

Is there a reason why you enlarged images are the same size as your thumbnails? It seems quite pointless to have a click to enlarge button when then image isn't any bigger

Thanks Ben & Dizi :)

I have only really SEO both sites in the last couple of weeks, so i need to wait a few months to see what the search engines do...

i can normally be found on google for the term "fly fishing" on the 2nd page at the bottom.

the thing that puzzles me, is that when i look at the 10 websites in front of me, it looks like they all made there websites in frontpage and have no seo what so ever?

i think its my domain age and traffic that let me down for both websites...

Yes domain age is certainly taken into consideration. The amount of inbound links also effects this including the keywords used. So the site above you have inbound links probably with the keywords Fly Fishing or a combination. There is also other factors i.e. Title and Description tags and how often content is updated on your website.

So if you want to improve your ranking you need more quality backlinks and also the links people are using you would want to encourage them to use targetted keywords ie. "Fly Fishing".

So they should use:

<a href="http://www.ukfishersonline.com>Fly Fishing</a>

The more people you have linking to your site with that term will boost you up the rankings for "Fly Fishing". Also optimise your title and description tags and make sure Fly Fishing is used in them don't forget to use it in your your content aswell. (Don't over do it though and get listed as spamming)

Hope that helps.

I know for a fact that my home page and the pages linking on the top and left navigation are optimized as i used Web Ceo which i just bought.

i just need to wait a few weeks for the search engines to update and see what they do..

i seem to only get about 50-70 visits per day and that a combined total for the two links i mentioned in the first post

So what do you think would be the best way for me to gain traffic....

i have looked into adsense and adwords, but i am not sure what one would be best for me. as i do not want to send people away from my site to other shops when i have my own....

i currently have a PR3 Rank for www.ukfishersonline.com & PR2 for the shop www.ukfishersonlineshop.co.uk is this good considering i have only been online for a year?

and to be honest i don't have that many links about 50 i think?

any advice would be greatful

nice layout :)

The first images are the cathegories, after you click on one its the product itself

Nice design and programmation :D

  • 4 weeks later...

I agree - nice design and clean programming.

The fishing shop however doesn't seem to be the same width as the fishing site. It produces a horizontal scrollbar.

Edit : - that's on 1024 x 768 res.
