Website Restrictions

Hi, I'm having a problem with people viewing a website

I designed some weeks ago. Maybe some of you know

how to fix.

Issue:

People report they can't access the site from their work

computers because the site is listed as 'entertainment'

and there appears to be a block on those kind of sites.

Question:

Is this something I can fix or is this something

the administrator in the office needs to change?

I'm thinking this may be 'meta' related.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Warmics,

It sounds like whatever content filtering system they have in place in their office has classed your site as entertainment. Unfortunately I'm not sure if you can change. Changing content might get around the problem, but then again do you really want to change your website for a few users? You could speak to the IT admin there to get the site added to a trusted list, but that's probably a bit too much hassle. Do you have any more info about the problem? How many people have reported it? Are they all in the same company? Do they all work in offices? Can they see the site at home?

Hope this helps

Darren

^ absolutely

Have you thought that organisations might not want their staff browsing non work related sites? This is quite common and is intended to control what their emplyees can and cannot access - that is their choice and I wouldn't have thought they'd change it just for you. Ask but don't expect much :)

Thanks for your replies,

I was told by my client that this issue happened

to at least 5 people in different offices. I was guessing

it was related to the company and not really my fault,

but I wanted to confirm this with more knowledgeable people.

I'm thinking I'll tell my client he needs to tell

his visitors that they should solve this with their

company's network administrator.

They can access the site just fine from home - I'm told.

Thanks again dmpinder & BlueDreamer.
