June 17, 200917 yr My 1st website is this that im currently working on..... www.nt-uk.com I am way in over my head i think, i have to go up in front of the big cheeses in a fortnight and present this. This site i am doing is for the company i work for and thus far its been ok. One slight problem .....they have roughly 800products which all need images etc. I will say its very tricky trying to work out what content i can put into it being a manufacturing business but ill get it all. Ive got lots to learn and intend on spending lots of time here with you fine people. My reasons for learning web design...mainly a hobby although i intend on doing this one for a charge. BTW would i be wrong in asking best ways of pricing or is that classified info?

June 17, 200917 yr Hi Don, Its a good start. I like the transparent content window. Putting database info in to any site is always a bit of a pain, unless you can import it directly in. With regard to pricing, it is very much dependant on your own skillset. As you get better, you will be able to charge more for what you do. We cover quite a few areas now and charge anywhere from £350-900 per day depending on the project. Hope everything goes well with the site Steve
June 17, 200917 yr Welcome to WDF! Yes adding product data can be a pain, but most decent CMS's have an import facility so you can import product data in bulk, saving you many hours/days. Am i Right in assuming you're using Joomla as you CMS?

Just make sure you keep it up to date and apply security patches regularly because Joomla is a frequent target for hackers, though to their credit they have a good record of patching vulnerabilities - http://secunia.com/advisories/product/5788/?task=advisories.

June 18, 200917 yr Author The reason for that colour and template was mainly down to the fact it is an agricultural company and with the grass effect at the bottom etc it just seem to fit. June 18, 200917 yr I quite like the colours actually. The one thing I'm not keen on is the bevel header text; doesn't seem to fit with rest of the simple/organic/earthiness style of the site
