There doesnt seem much for SMEs, and I dont agree with the high tax even tho I am no were near that level. It dampens the aspiration.

 

I also support the spending on green tech, and it seems they are planning on being strong for the future instead of worrying too much about whats happening today.

Haven't looked at it yet, though I imagine the working class will be getting screwed over yet again.

Yet another awful attempt at a budget by the Kitchen Cabinet. I've lost all faith (not sure if I had anyway) in the Labour Party. I think after 12 years in power, it's evident they haven't got what it takes anymore.

I don't know about you, but I'm in desperate need for a general election.

I dont really have a downer on labour to be fair, its a world wide issue. I like and hate parts of al of the parties policies, and I just hate the smarmy torys.

The 50% Income Tax Rate is ridiculous. People; Doctors, Lawyers Ect. Are on the money they're on because of what they do. I don't think the government should be able to take half their pay in purely income tax (excluding national insurance!) just to do nothing more than fund the labour parties coffers to try and buy their way out of the recession. If Brown had been more prudent as chancellor then the chances are, although we would of still been in a recession, we many not of had it as bad as it is.

 

I don't particularly like the conservatives, I agree, many are smarmy, never mind that Cameron, but I actually joined the conservative party as an alternative to labour and the liberal democrats (who just agree with everyone really don't they?).

 

We need a government that actually do something for a change, and I know this is a very sore spot, but we need another Maggie! No matter what you might think, she did pull us out of the ditch we were in at the time.

I honestly think this budget is going to be the downfall of the labour government.

Mmy dads absolutely screwing about the 50% income tax... He's contemplating leaving the county already!!! I'm pissed off the price of beer and smokes has gone up 2% so I can't imagine how he feels!

The 50% income tax rate makes little difference, most people in this wage bracket will get some of their package in share options, so they only pay 18% CGT

 

I have done a rough calculation that I will be about £210 a year better off, taking into account pre-budget changes that appear to have been overlooked

which pree budget changes? I am going to be worse off because booze and fuel is more expensive damn it. how am i supposed to have a good time now!

I dont like the fuel, i already drive a diesel, so pay a fortune, but at least im getting 50miles/gallon.

 

The problem with the big tax increase for the rich is the guys that earn that much money, have the money to move elsewhere/move their company abroad, whilst the people at "our" levels dont.

 

Also interested in seeing how the £2000 for trade your car in is going to work, although i belive this is a way to throw away money. The english government will pay you £2000 towards a car that 90% of the sales profits from will be going to a french/german company?

the £2k old car scrapage scheme sounds nuts. You need to have owned the car for 12months to qualify and the car needs to be over 10 years old. Its funded 50-50 by gov and car ind. old cars which are traded in this way are to be scrapped and not auctioned onto the open market again which is bad news for a lot of garages which specialise in under £2k cars and fixing them. since Jan the average car price has gone up at least £2k anyway so your not really saving any money. the car ind is now making less cars than people want to buy so when they have used their stock piles prices will go even higher. making a car uses more energy than any car will use during its lifetime, this was supposed to be a green budget.

 

I cant see the point of people trying to improve their lives now, employing people is now even more expensive with the NI rises, successful people have to pay 50% tax, and on their saving/pension. It feels crap at the moment.

 

At least though they are investing in future tech which should pay off in the long run but these types of things are designed to employ minimum amount of people for max profits.

 

Personally I think a 30% tax across the board is fairer, and increase VAT to 20% or something since VAT is only supose to be on lux goods, maybe have a minimum amount you pay tax on set at £12k. also introduce a fat tax which will make money and eventually save NHS money..
