Hi,

We have a customer who is looking to change their shopping cart system as they are not getting very good results with their existing one (which is custom made).

The 2 main reasons for the change are that the existing site is poorly optimised for search engines with messy code and a lot of customers have been leaving the site once getting to checkout which could be because its not very user friendly.

The site can be viewed by clicking here.

What we are looking at doing is integrating the existing design into Interspire and then importing all of the products using CSV files.

My question is, do you think that it is worth integrating the site into a well known system that is better for search engines or just trying to improve this existing system which was created by a different company.

Thanks,

Fred

EDIT: The title should be advice not advise.

I'd attempt the transfer to Interspire. You could try and improve the existing software, but that could be complicated and time consuming, whatever is quicker and easier for you is what I'd recommend.

Go with Interspire because you'll re-start with a more solid and proven platform. Plus it gives you a chance to do checkout optimisation etc with minimal faffing about.

Thanks for the advice.

I think we are going to go with Interspire and although we will need the $999 licence, I think it will be worth it for them in the long run.

I haven't used Interspire before so i'm not sure how easy it is to skin for but i'm looking for some documentation now.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi,

You need to check what is happening at user end, what is the basic problem. you cannot decide one at a time without any testing. Check stats of your website and hand it over to some web service company to optimize this website.

We have already performed testing and have found that a lot of users leave at checkout. However the main problem is the site isn't getting enough relevant traffic which is why we are going to upgrade to Interspire which is already search engine optimised and has some other really great features.

We would be more than happy to offer our help.

If you would like a UK company with a landline number to help, feel free to contact me.

My name is Richard.

Hopefully speak to you soon.
