Do they exist?

 

osCommerce for example is extendable but isn't compliant and the majority of contributions don't work for everyone if at all.

 

I've seen a French system (can't remember the name) which looked good but I didn't even get past it's rubbish installation stage.

 

I am seriously considering writing a system myself that has easy to install/uninstall plugins like with WordPress for example, something that I can sell for little money but sell vast quantities of. Obviously if such a system exists already then I won't bother as it will be a mammoth project LOL, but thought I'd find out from you guys and gals first.

Hope you will be the superstar of ecommerce solution in the near future. There is an abundance of ecommerce solution sites nowdays. No perfect one. But they have their own convenience features. Dont be so absolute.

Magento is about the best open source, although a basic understanding of a multitude of languages (html/css/xml etc.) is a must.

They've taken the best route, but because it's uncommon, it comes with the learning curve, and the lack of documentation let alone good documentation doesn't help.

 

I'm currently somewhat clumsily fumbling my way around it.

I agree Magento is amazing if you can get around their template system. I also recommend GoodBarry and Shopify.
