Best CMS for the job!

Featured Replies

A client has asked for a website/community so to speak.

Where he can write articles and post information about a certain topic.

He wants to be able to content manage every page, upload videos, display videos and flash banners, advertisements and the usual stuff.

I was just wondering what CMS system you guys would advise?

Thanks

There are dozens of CMS's that might suit so providing some more detail will help...

1. Does he need to be able have multiple category groups to manage different sorts fo content?

2. Does he need multiple authors/editors?

3. Does he require forum integration?

4. What facilities does he need specifically for ad management?

Personally I would recommend DotNetNuke. There are a couple of really good 3rd party developers who have built some great community features. For example www.smart-thinker.com or www.ventrian.com

To search for DNN (dotnetnuke) funcitonality go to www.snowcovered.com - its like the department store for DNN.

Good luck.

BTW DNN comes with core modules free - including forums, events, documents, blogs etc etc... Plus is handles ads quite nicely!

Wordpress can act as a full site CMS with a little encouragement! :)

That would be my choice

I always use Wordpress for simple blogs and Drupal for anything I need something a little bit special for. I always found extending/modding Drupal easier than extending or modding Wordpress for some reason.
