Tables in Joomla

Featured Replies

Whilst playing around and getting to grips with Joomla, I noticed it is very much reliant on tables.

I have designed my template purely using HTML and CSS, however when I come to add content to my pages it formats them in tables, where as all i need is simply the text.

I have entered the content in via the HTML editor built into Joomla, hoping this may bypass Joomla's constant need for tables, however didnt.

Does anyone know how I can stop Joomla processing my content through tables?

Thanks

Don't use Joomla :)

Are you talking templates or content? From my experience the Joomla template should be straightforward to convert but you'd have to weed out all the module templates as well as most of them aren't coded correctly.

My template is using css however when I add content it is wrapped in tables.

What CMS would you recommend bluedreamer?

I just looked at a demo install and the default template uses tables for the main content area from <div id="maincolumn">, is that the one you mean?

yes corsavxr_jay

you are right....Joomla relies on tables...

but u have a template extension called JYAML...that will use YAML CSS and no tables..

in joomla, there is a single main template .... index.php but u have a different template for the inside content .e.g. articles, components, modules... those can be modified by create html/ folders in the template directory....

JYAML takes care of all that...
