It is mandatory in the UK to a certain extent particularly with government sites, and, how you interpret the law, any business site as well.

 

If you look at the whole target.com saga and how a group of blind people in the US took them to court because they couldn't use the site, it's only matter of time before a test case comes to court over here and you can bet your boots it will swing in the favour of the user.

I love these reports - I never fail to be inspired when I consider how may words it's possible to write before saying anything at all.

 

The only thing they really seem to be saying is that we have to (formerly "should") test our websites with a large number of disabled people. I can't help but think that sooner or later someone's going to put together a group of the disabled for the purposes of testing.

 

Other than that, please validate your websites, read WCAG and figure out how to make subtitles and captions. None of this really strikes me as anything new.

Thanks for the link on this, totally agree with skateside, waste of time ruling that basically should have 1 page saying, "make sure sites validate"
