December 7, 200817 yr Sorry if this is in the wrong place. if I have a folder on a site where I store all of my Audio/Video. I embedd audio and video on my using some player which users can view but not download. Now, a lot of people will just look at the source and find the location of the audio/video and download them all (and kill my bandwidth). If i use .htaccess to redirect the folder to the homepage, will the internal embedded audio/video's sill work? Thanks. (It would be a 301 redirect...)

Unfortunately with a redirect set in your .htaccess, it will re-direct all requests, so I don't think it would work. You should be able to use .htaccess to block access from *all referrers* apart from your website though. Obviously referrers can be spoofed, but it should work for the most part. Alternatively you might want to use some software like aMember for setting up a private area where users can view video files, and you'll want to encode your videos into flv with some kind of flash player for playback on the web. Obviously, a determined person will probably still be able to get at your files somehow, (ripping the video from the stream) but it will deter casual pirates.
