I'm looking launching a service for web developers and end users who are using Wordpress as a CMS and bloggin platform but who may not be getting the SEO results they expect.

 

Wordpress is a SEO friendly CMS out of the box but it is not 100% SEO friendly. Ther are lots of things that web developers can do to tweak the code as well as valuable plugins that can be added to turn it into a CMS that will get good search engine positions for your websites and blogs.

 

It's pointless running off a list of things that need tweaking since every wordpress installation is different and depending on the level of complexity of the current setup, different things need to be done.

 

So if anybody is interested and thinks there is scope to offer a Wordpress SEO optimisation service please let me know.

The same is true of any CMS. Perhaps rather than concentrating on Wordpress it should have a more broader appeal? After all the actual techniques for making SE friendly content/templates are pretty much universal.

Thats true, and you know what else - thinking about it WordPress templates are probably the most easiest of all Content Managed pages to optimise for engines, I had a look at widgets and tools and there are a shed load out there (I use a couple myself).

 

I'd still be interested to know if Areoff believes he has a USP.

Hmm, yes - however taking into consideration 'bluedreamer's' comment, SEO for WordPress is going to be the same as SEO for any other CMS. Same techniques - prehaps slightly different implimentation and execution.

 

If somebody is specifically offering a service which is highly focused on WordPress I'd have to ask why.

 

I offer SEO but I don't discriminate against people who don't use WordPress.

ah yes i did skim read past that.... i dont think hes trying to discriminate just be specialised... just like you get specialised builders you dont ask why they just do plastering or brick laying you just take comfort in the fact they know what there doing in their field.

 

personally the best CMS ive every had the pleasure to use (i.e require the least mods) is Modx, as it is made by programmers who understand SEO fully... its even won a open source award as the best up and coming CMS.

 

i think when it comes down to things like this its down to personal prefrence :-)

I would offer my services in two ways:

 

1. A report on the things that you need to do in order to make your Wordpress driven website more SEO friendly than it is currently.

 

2. Offer a service which implements these recommendations for you if you are technically unable/don't have time etc. to do this yourself. Obviously this service is aimed more at end users rather than webmasters.

There are lots of widgets like 'All in one SEO pack' which we use to control meta-data per post/page but there are still lots of other issues which I would argue are best dealt with in the good old-fashioned manual way of amended the source code in a Wordpress installation.

I currently offer SEO services to all my clients irrespective of the website platform.

 

What I'm looking at here is targetting a service towards Wordpress users wince I believe there has been a mushroom cloud of users adopting Wordpress straight off the shelf, producing tons of great content, but loosing out because it's not firing on all cylinders when it comes to SEO.

 

A Wordpress SEO makeover service to boost the rankings of sites using this CMS is what I'm looking at targetting here.

You totally understand where I'm coming from. It's about offering an SEO service that is tailored to a particular CMS which happens to be probably the most popular and widely used nowadays. It's not about excluding users of non CMS driven websites.

I do understand I think that offering SEO specifically for WordPress templates is strange. Prehaps consider having a broader allure, in my mind SEO for a WordPress Template is the same as SEO for any other CMS driven site except with the attractive appeal that WordPress can be easier to manipulate and make SEO changes (thanks to a range of free widgets) than others.
