October 12, 200817 yr I am building a site for a photographer and will need a CMS for him to update the photos with. Will need to update thumbnails with links to the sets page and then to each hi-res image. Also will need to create a new page for when he needs to add another set of photos. So I need something that can insert a new image with a link to a new page. I have made a template for the 'gallery' page. I really like cushycms but its only really good for changing photos, rather than adding new ones, and it can't create new pages. But something similar to cushycms would be great as I already have the site designed. Thanks in advance. phil.
October 12, 200817 yr I have never used cushycms but this is one of my favourite photo CMS's is Pixelpost which you can find here There is also Zenphoto which seems really good.
October 12, 200817 yr Author Thanks, just installed pixelpost and its alright, not really what I wanted at all though. I have a page that I made myself with thumbnails, each thumbnail links to a page of images. I need a system that creates a new thumbnail that links to a new page (based around my template), full of new images. Is such a system even possible or would I have to change things in my html editor like normal? phil.
October 13, 200817 yr Like with most CMS's you would have to make your design work with it, which will take a bit of work, but you can see here that you can have a series of thumbnails and them linking to the image, plus it makes its own thumbnails. http://simplevisions.org/index.php?x=browse
October 13, 200817 yr Author yeah, on closer inspecton, zenphoto does what i want, i just took a few the bits of php from one of the templates and put it in my own design. looks good. thanks for the links. can i just ask, about wordpress... how do people use it as a cms? i downloaded it and tried it and its just a blogging tool. or do you have to do similar to what i have done? and take bits into your own design.. thanks

Put in the context of the Web it's used for keeping blogs, galleries and tons of other things without the need for changing code each time you wanna add/remove or modify the content. Wordpress does that job rather well for blogging, which is what it's designed for, but there are additional plugins available that add photo gallery support etc. to it. In addition to those Dizi mentioned, Coppermine is another photogallery CMS worth a look.
October 13, 200817 yr This might be a bit confined for your use but its so easy to use. Might be worth a look http://slideshowpro.com/

You could run the gallery as a "weblog" or use EE's inbuilt gallery system. The inbuilt one creates thumbnails, medium sized images and leaves your full size images there if you want to use them (ie with Lightbox or similar). Aprt from that you'd have all thwe tools to manage the resof the sites content as well. Here's a few EE powered photography sites for inspration... http://artificialmemory.com/ http://brettweaverstudio.com/ http://justinkosman.com/ http://bhookun.com/ http://www.marthawakeman.com/ http://www.whitehornephotography.co.uk/
