September 22, 200817 yr Hi, I am new to web design and have little knowledge on how to design a website. I am therefore looking for software that can be used for a simple .info website that can incorporate ads. Do content management systems like Joomla incorporate banners? If not what would be the quickest and easiest way to build a site that can run ads? What about the likes of website tonight or other template software? Many thanks!
September 22, 200817 yr Another, Simpler option to Joomla would be wordpress. Although this is a blogging software, it is much simpler to ser up than Joomla, but can still be used as a simple Content management system
September 23, 200817 yr From what I understand about content managment systems, from a web designer point of view, is that they are sourced out to clients who want to update the site that has been built for them.

Yes sort of. A CMS is often used as a platform to build the site around from the ground up, then once it's completed it's handed over to the clients so they can create and manage their content.

From what I understood was that the CMS just aimed at 'pointers' in the code. At its most basic,if all that was needed was the client to update some text on the page, the CMS would insert it in for you without having to hunt through the HTML.
