  1. OMG I never realised about the icons. Lazy on my part. Thank you
  2. Thanks for going into detail on this one, looks like I have a few issues with the footer! I'll see if I can fix it this weekend.
  3. I want the Journal to be a separate area to the site so I won't be applying the design to other areas. I prefer a clean simple layout for the portfolio page because I want the work to be centre of attention and stand out.
  4. It's a mixture of percent measurements for the background-position, container divs and padding. It was quite difficult to do, and I've never attempted a layout like it before.
  5. Hi Fatih, I applaud your originality but I don't think the horizontal scrolling works too well for me personally. ...That doesn't mean you can't have a horizontal website! My suggestion is to remove the horizontal scroll bar, and have the content absolutely positioned on top so the background says STILL. Then, have buttons (like you already have with the arrow) that fluidly moves the content left and right. Have the transition SNAPPING to certain points so people don't feel so disorientated. That's just my suggestion, you can ignore me if you like!
  6. Can you elaborate? For iOS I have only tested on iPad. Android for mobile. When a device is lower than 450px wide the footer should 'stack' on top of each other and take 100% width. iPhone portrait width might be above 450 though, but still footer should be side by side with text clipped and ellipsis. Thank you, though all bespoke if you are referring to the famous plugin. By the way, if you have a chance to view on desktop, the experience is very different.
  7. Still an interesting insight though, thanks. The fact that it updates in the browser from resizing is intentional, though these intentions may cause confusion to the user.
  8. Hey guys, I haven't posted in here for a long long time, but my personal website has now been updated to have fluid, responsive layout and I would appreciate if anyone could break/crtique upon it. link: http://stevebrown.co . Thanks! Edit: I wrote a little blog entry about my intentions with the responsive layout: http://www.stevebrown.co/2012/02/web-design/website-update-responsive-layout-and-mobile-optimisation . I would love it if anyone would take the time to read it.
  9. Hi Guys, If you go to my new website in chrome: http://stevebrown.co and 'view source' the output is a MESS. I did not write it this way. Compare with firefox's view source. Does anyone know what its doing this? Thanks, -Steve
  10. Shameless bump, as it has 131 views and now on page 2. Did anyone take a look?
  11. I have tried all of the above, and I keep going back to netbeans.
  12. Hi everyone It's been a long time since I posted here! I am after some help with the jQuery on my portfolio. Located here: http://www.stevewbrown.co.uk/mywork First of all, my javascript skills are beginner. To cut a long story short, this is the best I can do at my current level. The javascript for it is located here: http://www.stevewbrown.co.uk/wp-content/themes/steve/js/portfolio.js I am using the popular jQuery cycle plugin http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/ Could anybody please offer some advice to the following 3 issues I have? 1. If you click on a thumbnail, up pops up a large image of that piece of work.My problem: You will see that I toggle the height of the thumbnail div it will animate and then suddenly 'snap' away. How can this be fixed? 2. After clicking a thumbnail, and after the slide is loaded. If you press 'next' you will notice that the next piece of work slides in, and THEN it is loaded via ajax. My problem: After pressing next, I want the current slide to pop up with an ajax loading gif, WAIT for the next slide's content to load, and THEN animate to the next slide. (You will see I have already attempted this) 3. This is a similar problem. You will notice that when you click 'next' in the same situation, after the content is loaded, I animate the height to fit the contents. My problem: Is it possible to adjust the height BEFORE the next slide is loaded in? It just seems messy. Thank you so much in advance
  13. Nice find, however those arent editors that would be used for coding websites. The post is recommending WYSIWYG text editors that replace textedits on an website. This is useful for building user interfaces where users/clients can update content without any coding knowledge etc.
  14. Not sure I understand you exactly. When you say ie6 is semi-revelant do you mean IE6 needs a bit of an extra fixing?
