Forum Links?

Featured Replies

Forum links generally pass very little value from the forum to your web site. They are quantity not quality. So i was thinking today why don't we try and harvest some quality links out of a forum. You may ask how do we do this? we start a thread for everyone one intersted we all make one post in the thread. WE add a perma link to that thread in our signatures passing value to the thread and creating a higher quality link to our web sites. What do you guys think of this idea?

I personally think you are better off just linking to individual thread/quality posts you have posted in (Or just link to helpful posts in general to help the community) rather than harvesting them within a topic where after a time the thread would be full of posts that you are back to square one again. Plus - in a way it would be like spamming after a while. For good/helpful information we create sticky posts for this reason as they do serve a purposes in helping people finding content quicker as opposed to actually building your PR.

I suggest linking to your profile page as to be honest that is the only page that actually passes pagerank to other site - so it's worth putting your website there.

On this forum it would be quite pointless as every outbound link (bar your portfolio page link) has the rel="nofollow" attached to them so it isn't going to help you building backlinks on the forum due to the majority of search engines ignoring them.
